THE BRIEF

This space was designed as a calm and flexible retreat—welcoming for daytime reading and conversation, yet easily shifting into a more intimate setting for evening drinks and entertaining.

With its vaulted ceiling, double-height window overlooking mature gardens, large fireplace, and quirky period details, the room offered both drama and character.

Taking inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the clients’ art collection, I developed a tonal palette of nature-inspired blues and greens. An eclectic mix of patterned fabrics—used across window treatments, floor cushions, sofas, ottoman, and lampshades—added depth and interest. By keeping the colour story cohesive, the overall effect felt col and organic, as if layered over time.

A range of flexible seating options kept it flexible for social gatherings and a large vintage over mantle mirror reflected the beautiful gardens back into the room. A large antique table grounded the space and stopped it all feeling too new, looking fabulous styled up with a statement vase.
