WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

Consultation

We will have an initial free telephone consultation to discuss your requirements, budgets, and timescales. Designing a residential space is deeply personal so it is important that we establish a good relationship at this stage.

The service is very flexible and from that initial consultation we can assess your needs. It may be that the “Studio service” is right for you, setting you up to succeed or the more in-depth “Atelier service” is more suitable where we offer more services and support.

When we have agreed which design package you will be working under, the timeline and budget we move to the Concept Design phase.

Phase 1: Concept Design

I hold a site meeting to get a deeper understanding of you, your lifestyle, practical needs, and desired outcomes. The more information that we have at this early stage the better the final design. A brief will then be sent back to you, to ensure our alignment on the project. I will also take this time to undertake a site survey.

When I have a good feeling for your lifestyle, the property and the location I design a mood board. This captures the feeling of the space and inspires the textures, the hard and soft materials, the forms of the furniture and captures the activities in the space.

From here I create two initial layout ideas or spatial plans. If we are working under the Atelier package there is flexibility for revisions.

Then I move on to create the Style boards. These are reference images that give you an overall idea of the look of the space and ensures we remain aligned on a shared vision.

If we are working together under the Studio package, I then create a digital presentation pack for you with the moodboard, style board, agreed furniture layout and information on the size, style and colour of furniture, lighting and window treatment style alongside a list of suggested paint colours and finishes. I present this to you via Zoom.

You then have a copy of the presentation to hand and are fully set up to take over the reins of the project and implement it at your own pace. If you wish to add on additional services such as bespoke joinery design or sourcing this will be charged at an hourly rate.

Phase 2: Design Development

If we are working under the Atelier package we move forward based on the agreed phases to the agreed timeline. These may include some or all of the following..

  • Design development: Detailed design of each room with colours, fabrics, and specific pieces of furniture. Floor plans, elevations, and hand drawn sketches of the space where appropriate.

  • Technical design: Where required these are suitable for contractors to use to build from and can include plumbing layout, joinery, and lighting design.

Phase 3: Sourcing, Procurement, installation and styling

  • Identify the specific pieces to purchase, make purchases on behalf of the client where required

  • Commission any soft furnishing or joinery requirements

  • Oversee installation and styling.
